Everything about this watch makes it just about the perfect pilot's watch. As a (former) pilot and as a collector of watches I have firm ideas of what a pilot's watch should and should not be - not a chronograph with distracting sub-dials - not a pretend flight computer with extraneous outer rings and bezels - not a GMT watch with a distracting fourth hand which is of little use in flight. The Longines Spirit 40mm pilot watch gets top marks for presenting none of these flaws. Furthermore this watch has easily the most readable dial and hands - in any light or lack of light conditions - of any watch I have owned. One does not need to read the time from this watch it is simply seen with the merest of glances - the gold on black format is highly visible in light shining from any angle with a gradual change to luminous green as the light fades - I have other watches which do this - but Longines seem to do it best. Importantly, the minute and second hands of this watch protrude into and over the minute/second markers on the dial - this is an important feature of a true pilot watch and one where many so-called pilot watches fail badly. Also, there is no distracting and therefore unwanted date window - simply a highly visible dial and three highly visible hands which tell the time to the exact second. That's what's wanted and and this watch delivers it beautifully. My watch gains about 1 second per day currently which is perfectly acceptable for an automatic chronometer and the only adjustment I have made to the watch has been to soften the initially stiffish strap with a couple of applications of Lord Sheraton's Balsam. This is a beautiful and impressive watch.

The watch was really nice but unfortunately just too small for my wrist. My own fault entirely and I’m very grateful to First Class Watches for their first class returns process.

I looked at a few different Field watch types but this was the one that really took my eye. Firstly, it's a Casio Solar which is a massive plus for me. Secondly, the design was a little bit more modern and rugged looking. Lastly, you got the additional features such as an alarm, world time, and all the othe features than come as standard with a Casio. The only drawback was that it wasn't a G Shock, but that said it's got the look of a G Shock.
It's nice to wear, not too heavy and clunky which I like, plus it looks good for the price in fact it's a bargain.

I have now purchased 4 watches off First Class Watches and camln honestly say the prices and service are exceptional. 1 of the 4 watches, a Hamilton Khaki Field developed a serious fault after owning it for approximately 2 months, after speaking to and emailing Rowland the watch was returned for assessment and replaced for a new one without any quibble. I would wholly recommend this company and the service provided and would have confidence purchasing from them in the future.

The Suunto Vertical 2 is first class as was the service from First Class Watches. The battery life is fantastic (uses about 5% per day), and the mapping in particular works very well. If you have a slim wrist, then the Suunto Athletic 7 Coral Orange Textile Loop Strap is a sound addition (see photo). One watch out for people in the Apple ecosystem is that the Suunto app integration with Health/Fitness is not perfect and the Fitness rings may not move as expected. Following community input, I am using RunGap as an intermediary and this fixes the issues.
